What’s a Camaro worth? If we’re talking about a COPO Camaro, quite a bit. Chevrolet only builds a handful of these each model year, and this time around, the very first sixth-generation COPO Camaro was donated at a Barrett-Jackson auction, with all proceeds of the winning bid going to United Way.
The car sold for $300,000 to an unnamed bidder, who owns and races another modern COPO Camaro, so it’s quite possible we’ll be seeing the car at drag strips in the future.
Auctioned alongside it was the very first 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS coupe, which fetched an even greater price at $500,000, with proceeds benefiting Kettering University. NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick had the pleasure of taking that one home. It’ll be joining his collection of other incredible cars, including the 5th-generation Camaro coupe and convertible, the very first modern COPO Camaro, the first Corvette Z06, and the first Corvette Stingray C7 coupe and convertible.
A few more, and he’ll rival our own lineup at Stalker Chevrolet!
