GM recently expanded a partnership with the ridesharing company Lyft in order to give drivers more selection. Specifically, drivers in California and Colorado will be the first to have access to the new all-electric 2017 Chevrolet Bolt, an exciting opportunity for many eco-conscious drivers.
According to Fortune magazine, the Lyft Chevy Bolt deal is being offered in these two states largely because that’s where the demand for the new all-electric vehicle is. However, Lyft co-founder John Zimmerman stated that the service would eventually be offered across the US, which should include the Bolt as well.
The new Bolt model should be made available once it is in full production, sometime in the fall. Until then, though, only Lyft drivers will have the rare opportunity to drive this next-generation vehicle. The Lyft-GM partnership will work to get the latest technologies on the market as soon as possible, though the ultimate goal of both companies is to develop an urban-friendly autonomous vehicle fleet.
For now, the latest technology on the auto market is the Bolt. This model comes with an estimated range of 200 miles per charge, as well as a quick-charging 240-volt input. An advanced battery makes it possible to travel much further, while custom controls and a 10.2-inch diagonal display make it easier to keep track of vehicle info and to access media. There’s nothing like the new Bolt. We can’t help but be a little jealous of Lyft drivers that will be behind the wheel of this new car soon.
