Every once in awhile, there is a new, innovative concept car that will change the face of the industry. This year, that concept car is the Chevrolet Bolt. Now, Chevrolet has announced that it will be moving forward with Bolt electric vehicle production, confirming that the industry is about to get a bit of a shock to its system.
“The message from consumers about the Bolt EV Concept was clear and unequivocal: Build it,” said Alan Batey, GM North America President. “We are moving quickly because of its potential to completely shake up the status quo for electric vehicles.”
The Bolt all-electric vehicle, which debuted earlier this year at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, has been set for sale in all 50 states, unlike Chevy’s previous electric vehicles. It will offer a GM-estimated 200-mile range with an unspecified powertrain, all for a value-oriented price of $30,000. This combination of range and value are sure to turn heads even more than the Bolt’s futuristic design, making it one of the most appealing EVs in the world before it even rolls off the assembly line.
