2016 Malibu Teen Driver System Helps Teach Safe Driving

All-New 2016 Chevy Malibu
The 2016 Malibu will be the first vehicle equipped with Teen Driver. As system designed to help teach your teenager proper driving habits.

When your teenager finally earns the freedom of a driver’s license, it can be difficult to hand over the keys. Chevrolet is hoping to make this momentous occasion easier than ever before with the brand new Chevrolet Malibu Teen Driver System. This new safety system, available only in the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, helps keep your teenager safe in the driver seat—even when you’re not in the car.

“We developed this system so parents could use it as a teaching tool with their kids—they can discuss and reinforce safe driving habits,” said MaryAnn Beebe, General Motors’ safety engineer. “As a mother of two, I know anything that has the potential of keeping one’s family safer is of great value to parents.”

The system can track a variety of tidbits about your teen’s driving habits, encouraging safe driving and discouraging distracted driving. It collects data such as the distance your teen has driven, his or her maximum speed traveled, incidents where either stability control or antilock brakes were needed, and any Forward Collision Alerts that caused the braking system to be used. And that’s not all! The Teen Driver System even warns your teen to slow down if they are driving over the speed limit.
