Earlier this year, Chevy unveiled the new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500—and at the most perfect time. Chevy pulled back the covers of the new pickup, which will soon be available at Stalker Chevrolet, on the very day that Chevrolet uncovered its first truck, back in 1918.
The new 2019 Silverado 1500 will increase in size (1.6 inches longer than the current Silverado), yet it will shed some serious poundage (450 lbs) as Chevy continues to improve fuel economy. One of the biggest improvements is to interior cargo volume: Chevy promises a class-leading 63 cubic feet in the short box model.
Another key feature that will set the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 apart from the competition is the available power up/down feature for the tailgate—a class-exclusive feature.
The Silverado 1500 will be available with different engine/transmission configurations, but the big news for the 2019 model is the addition of a Duramax inline six-cylinder diesel engine. Gas engines will include the 6.2-liter V8 and a new 5.3-liter V8. Both will boast Dynamic Fuel Management for improved fuel economy.
The new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado will be offered in eight trims: Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country.
See it in person when it arrives at Stalker Chevrolet later this year.
If you haven’t heard, the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 officially debuted back in January at the North American International Auto Show, and there’s a whole lot to look forward to when it arrives here at Stalker Chevrolet. But these are the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 features we’re most excited about:
New diesel engine: Chevrolet is offering a new Duramax 3.0-liter inline-six turbo-diesel engine. We have been expecting this for a while, since Chevy offers a diesel for other models here at Stalker Chevrolet, like the Equinox, Cruze, and Colorado, but still, we are pumped for solid and efficient performance from this new option.
Best-in-class cargo volume: Sure, most of the space you’ll want for your truck is in the bed, but who says the cabin can’t be roomy too? Chevy is promising class-leading cargo volume for the Silverado—up to 63 cubic feet of space.
A power tailgate: Another class-exclusive feature is the new available power up/down tailgate, which you can operate remotely with the key fob.
New trims: Chevrolet has added three new trims for 2019. They include Custom Trail Boss (with off-road equipment added to the Custom trim), LT Trail Boss (also adding off-road equipment, this time to the LT trim), and RST (giving the Silverado a street-performance appearance).
The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will arrive at Stalker Chevrolet later this year, and we can’t wait to see it in person!
There are a lot of steps you need to take to ensure your vehicle is running smoothly. One of those is tire rotation. The importance of tire rotations cannot be overstated. Let’s look at a few reasons why you need to do this. Then, you can schedule a service appointment at Stalker Chevrolet to get your car back on track.
To determine how often you need your tires rotated, you should check the owner’s manual. In general, many manufacturers recommend a rotation after driving for about 5,000-6,000 miles.
With regular tire rotations, you can ensure your tires will have a long life. A rotation makes sure your tires are wearing evenly across all four wheels. If you have a full-size spare, you can also “rotate in” that tire as well.
There are specific rotation patterns for different types of vehicles. To know which pattern you should use, you need to know your vehicle’s drive type (front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, etc.), the size of your tires and wheels, and if you have directional tires.
Along with tire rotations, you should also routinely get the tires aligned. Over time as you go over bumps and drive through potholes, your tires can become angled incorrectly. An alignment makes sure everything is lined up correctly.
For all your tire and car care needs, contact Stalker Chevrolet. Our service center can get you what you need.
In 2009, when the world was going through a big financial downturn, Chevrolet reduced its lineup of pickup trucks. Now, heavy-duty Chevrolet work trucks are making a comeback for the 2019 model year as the 4500HD and 5500HD chassis-cab versions of the Silverado.
Chevrolet says that these new work trucks are not based on the current Silverado and will be built from the ground up. They will be aimed at commercial and fleet buyers and can be upfitted with a variety of beds and boxes for various work purposes.
Along with a lot of customization options, buyers will be able to choose from regular and crew cabs, 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrains, and a variety of weight ratings and wheelbases. Power will come from a Duramax® diesel engine and an Allison transmission, which is a combination already used on more than two million trucks.
“The Silverado 4500HD/5500HD trucks are the flagship of our full-line commercial truck portfolio and we’ve designed them to be among the best in the industry in maneuverability, serviceability, visibility, quietness and comfort, diesel fuel economy and more,” said Ed Peper, US vice president of GM Fleet, in a statement.
We expect to see the new Silverado 4500HD and 5500HD here at Stalker Chevrolet by the end of 2018.
While nearly every vehicle seems to have a smart console front and center these days, none comes close to Chevrolet MyLink – the ultimate infotainment system for the modern driver – which you can find in all new Chevy models.
To start with, Chevy MyLink makes it safe and easy to receive and send text messages, so that the dangerous practice of texting and driving can become a thing of the past. You can use MyLink to make phone calls, too.
Additionally, there’s really no limit to the music you can access on Chevy MyLink, starting with the ability to integrate your own smart device to your vehicle, granting you access to your personal library. You can also use SiriusXM Radio, Pandora, and more.
Lastly, Chevy MyLink even comes with a Teen Driver Mode, which – when enacted – can guarantee certain behaviors for a driver. For example, Teen Driver Mode can be set so that music will not come on until all seatbelts are buckled.

As vehicle technology progresses year after year, cars and trucks get lighter, while simultaneously getting stronger, more efficient, and more powerful. As for the future of Chevy truck beds, we can expect the same type of progress.
According to industry speculation, GM could start incorporating carbon fiber into future models of the Chevrolet Silverado. Carbon fiber is lighter than steel, which would help the Silverado become more efficient. But, it is also stronger than steel, which is a necessity for a rugged truck bed.
Reports indicate that the material would be a carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic with a dense configuration. This material would be less expensive than the carbon fiber materials used in other brands, while still delivering superior strength and durability.
What do you think? Should Chevrolet make the switch to carbon fiber for its truck beds or do you prefer the tried and true steel? Share your opinion with us in the comments below.

6LE took a modern sixth-generation Chevy Camaro and altered it to include plenty of IROC-Z design features, like the exterior black stripes, a COPO Camaro hood, and a range of packages that boost the horsepower to 1,100 with the help of a Whipple supercharger. The goal, according to 6LE, was to create what the Camaro IROC-Z would look like today if Chevy was still making it.
The 6LE Camaro IROC-Z is so powerful that the design company will hold classes teaching buyers how to drive it safely. 6LE also plans to hold yearly races, echoing the history of the IROC series and benefiting charities.
The Camaro IROC series may not be in production today, but you can buy the latest Camaro at Stalker Chevrolet. Give us a call today to find out more or take a test drive in this iconic muscle car.
Here in Iowa, winter comes early and lasts for a long time. That means now is the time to prepare your car for winter. With a few easy steps, you can help make sure you will make it through the season.
Fluids. Your vehicle’s fluids are its blood. If any of them are low or dirty, your car will not run properly.
Tires. During the winter months, you need tires that can cut through ice and snow and still stay pliable even when it is frigid outside. Consider switching to winter tires for optimal performance.
Lights. As the days gets shorter, you will be spending more time driving in the dark. Make sure all of your exterior lights are working and angled properly.
HVAC. You will need both your heater and air conditioner during the winter. Your heater warms you up, while the A/C removes the fog from your windshield.
Emergency kit. In case disaster does strike, you want to be prepared. Make sure you have an in-car emergency kit with items like high energy snacks, water, blankets, road flares, a small shovel, etc.
If you want to make sure your car is ready for the cold weather ahead, schedule a service appointment right here at Stalker Chevrolet. We will give your car the professional touch.
