School Lunch Tips for Packing the Best Meal

School Lunch Tips
School Lunch Tips

It’s an age-old question: how do you prepare a healthy school lunch that your kids will actually eat? With these simple school lunch tips from Stalker Chevrolet, you can have your kids eating well all year long.

Plan Ahead

If you want to send your kids to school with something they’ll enjoy, you’ve got to be realistic. Don’t send them your favorite lunch. Instead, talk with them once a month to see what they’re interested in trying. Bring the kids grocery shopping with you so they can pick out the vegetables and proteins they like.

Prep Ahead

Most of the things you’ll be sending along in lunches can be prepared ahead over the weekend. For instance, you can chop up veggies, wash fruit, or make a batch of pasta, soup, or rice. Get the simple stuff out of the way and your morning rush will be all the easier.

Keep the Kids Involved

Their job isn’t over when you leave the grocery store. If you have plenty of fresh options to choose from, your kids will have fun putting together sandwiches and snacks that they know they will enjoy. Their thoughtful lunch will be the talk of the cafeteria, and you’ll never find a backpack with another rejected sandwich in it again.

Holiday Shopping Tips: Making the Most of Gift-Giving

The holiday season is right around the corner, which means now is the perfect time for last-minute holiday shopping. In addition to getting a Chevy, which is guaranteed to have plenty of space for all those presents, there are some important holiday shopping tips to keep in mind. If you’re looking to give the best gifts without breaking the bank, read on.

It sounds obvious, but Real Simple suggests making a list to help get you started. Make columns or rows of everyone you know, and start with the easy gifts. In addition to names and possible gifts, be sure to create a maximum spending column to help you manage your budget. If you have a large family, costs can definitely add up—a list is a great way to keep you out of the red.

Opening Christmas Presents

Next, be sure to get an early start. In addition to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, there are some great deals out there; however, waiting until the last minute will cost you big time. Typically, gifts actually tend to be cheaper before December, so getting things out of the way early could save you some serious dough.

Finally, do some online research. Shopping around can be fun, but it’s hard to find the best deals by foot nowadays. Hop on the internet and browse deals. Compare store websites, but also be sure to check out Consumer Reports for the latest information. If you’re tech-savvy, consider downloading a shopping app to help you hunt down deals. Every penny counts.

Making a list, starting early, and doing research are the best ways to start the holiday shopping season. You’ll be glad you followed these tips when you save money this year.

We also want to say thank you again to all of those who donated to Santa’s Silverado Sleigh! This was our most successful year to date and we couldn’t have done it without you!

First opened in 1896, the Warren Center is an opera house that has hosted some of the biggest names of the early 20th century. Halloween Safety Tips for Your Family

October is finally here, which means the kids are gearing up for one of the busiest nights of the year. Trick-or-treat night brings out hundreds of kids and parents in some neighborhoods, which means there are a few precautions to take before you head out. Here are a several great Halloween safety tips from us at Stalker Chevrolet.

  • Costumes – One of the major ways for a child to injury themselves is by falling. That’s why parents should make sure their child’s costume fits perfectly. Masks can also obstruct a child’s vision, which isn’t a good thing, especially in the dark. Use face paint or makeup when possible. Add a glow stick to your child’s costume to make them easier to spot.
  • Supervising – Children under the age of 12 need to be supervised by an adult. Those older than 12 should stay in lit areas they’re familiar with to avoid injury or danger. In these cases, large groups are a parent’s friend.
  • Driving – Drivers, you have an obligation this Halloween as well. Slow down, keep your lights on, and watch for any wandering children. See what times your area has trick-or-treat and do your best to stay off the road during those hours. Remember to stay off your phone while behind the wheel as well!

We love Halloween and we want to help keep you and your children safe. On Monday, October 31st, from 5:30 PM to 7 PM we’ll be hosting Trunk or Treat! A safe and fun way for your little superheros and ghosts to enjoy Halloween. Check out our Facebook page for pics from last years Trunk or Treat and visit our website for directions or to give us a call.

Support the Dog Gone Rescue at Paws In the Park

We all know that our pet populations are ever-growing. One of the best ways to keep this in check is by choosing a new pet from a shelter. If you want to participate in the Fun Run/Walk, you can register online for $25. And, of course, your dogs are welcome to join you. Everyone gets a t-shirt plus a bandana for their pet. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. at McKinley Park, Shelter House #6. The run and walk will both start at 9:30 a.m. After everyone has crossed the finish line, there will be awards and a drawing for prizes.

Ideas for Celebrating Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is one of our favorite holidays at Stalker Chevrolet. It gives us a chance to show our love and gratitude for the mothers without whom we wouldn’t be alive. Check out some of our favorite ideas for honoring mothers on Mother’s Day!

Create a photo album of memories

Photo albums of memories are one of the best Mother’s Day gifts. They have everything to do with family and the relationship between a mother and her children—and that’s what Mother’s Day is all about, right?

Celebrating Mother's Day

Make her dinner

Everyone loves to have dinner cooked for them, but if your mother or wife is the one usually in charge of the kitchen, she’s sure to appreciate a home-cooked meal even more. Remember to leave the kitchen spotless when you’re done!

Offer her a spa treatment

Being a mother is stressful; she’ll love the opportunity to get professionally pampered. It doesn’t have to be a spa—it could be an appointment at a massage parlor, a hair salon, or a nail salon. Anything to get those worries out of her head and knots out of her back!

Plan a weekend getaway

Sometimes, the best thing to do is break the daily routine. Plan a weekend getaway at a location where she might enjoy some novel entertainment or relax—whichever you think she might prefer.
