At Chevrolet, your safety is our number one priority. That is why it comes as no surprise that four different Chevrolet models have received the 2015 Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The 2015 Spark, Volt, Malibu, and Equinox each proved that not only are they aesthetically pleasing and capable, but they are also some of the safest cars in the industry.
“Receiving this recognition from IIHS for the 2015 Spark, Volt, Malibu, and Equinox is great news for Chevrolet and even greater news for our customers,” said Steven Majoros, director Chevrolet Cars and Crossover Marketing.
To earn the 2015 Top Safety Pick rating, each of the four vehicles had to receive a ‘good’ or ‘acceptable’ rating in the challenging small overlap front test, which is the most difficult crash test out there. Each vehicle also had to receive a good rating in the IIHS’ four other tests.

There are many things the hybrid Chevrolet Volt brings to the table, including fuel efficiency and an extended range. Now, Chevrolet is hoping to make consumers think beyond the Volt’s superior performance with a new Chevrolet Volt design that is sure to knock the socks off of anyone—including Corvette lovers.
The next-generation Volt will have a touch of sports car in its new design, taking some styling cues from the beloved Chevrolet Corvette, General Motors’ iconic sports car. A taut hood and hexagonal taillights will add a sportier feel to the hybrid car, helping the Volt shed a bit of its green-car persona.
Though it might look more like a sports car, the Volt will still offer an incredible amount of fuel efficiency. This includes a brand new system allowing the driver to adjust the degree of regenerative braking the Volt uses. The level is changed with steering-wheel paddles that can capture as much energy as possible.
With these big changes, the Chevrolet Volt is sure to make an even bigger impression on the car world. While there isn’t much information out there about the next-generation Volt, you can still stop in to Stalker Chevrolet and see what the current Volt has to offer.
During the Army/Navy football game every year, Chevrolet and Wish for Our Heroes come together to hold a military family reunion during half time. This year, as the family of US Army Sgt. Jonathon Preston Thompson reunited, they received a bit of surprise—a brand-new 2015 Chevrolet Colorado.
“As we’ve seen with the Thompsons and millions of others, military families make huge sacrifices for our country, and it feels good to celebrate Sgt. Thompson’s homecoming with a brand-new truck,” said Dan Akerson, former General Motors Chairman and CEO and a graduate of the US Naval Academy.
We at Stalker Chevrolet were thrilled to see the Colorado join the family reunion at the Army/Navy game.
Sergeant Thompson served our country in two deployments. The family recently lost their house at Fort Riley in Kansas to a fire, which they are still recovering from. Hopefully, the Chevrolet Colorado will help them do just that. The Colorado was recently named Motor Trend magazine’s 2015 Truck of the Year, showing that its capabilities and perfect size will make sure the Thompsons have a dependable vehicle.
Each year, esteemed automotive magazine Motor Trend puts several of the industry’s most popular trucks through their paces to determine which one is the best of the best. This year, after testing ten difference contenders, the publication has named the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado 2015 Truck of the Year, showing the American carmaker’s newest addition to its pickup lineup will make a lasting impression.
“After days of testing, hundreds of miles on the road, and our most rigorous truck testing program to date, our editors unanimously selected the Chevy Colorado as our 2015 Truck of the Year,” said Edward Loh, Motor Trend’s editor-in-chief. “Colorado is a smart, capable, and refreshingly honest truck that makes a strong value and efficiency statement. It’s perfectly sized and suited for the needs of many of today’s truck users.”
The 2015 Colorado won by a landslide with a rare unanimous vote by the editors at Motor Trend. Through a combination of a handsome exterior, perfect size, and terrific capabilities, the Colorado offers a little bit of everything for even the pickiest truck lovers. It even has best-in-class fuel economy ratings.

If a carmaker is looking to build a great pickup truck, the company must find the perfect balance between fuel-efficiency and dependability. For Chevrolet, this means introducing a variety of new fuel-saving Silverado engines for consumers—engines that have gone through a variety of improvements and miles of testing to be the best that they can be.
“Silverado is from the family of the most dependable, longest lasting full-size pickups on the road,” said John Fitzpatrick, Silverado marketing manager. “Our latest generation of Small Block engines help customers save money at the pump with engines that have been improved and by real-world experience.”
2015 Chevy Silverado Engines
The 2015 Silverado will have three available with EcoTec3 engines that utilize advanced fuel-saving technologies to get both fuel economy and performance. The first is a 4.3-liter V6 capable of generation 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque while still achieving 24 mpg highway. Next, the slightly more powerful 5.3-liter V8 churns out 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque with a 23 mpg highway, while the most powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine generates a whopping 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, while getting 21 mpg highway.
Chevrolet achieves these outstanding numbers by using Small Block engines, something the American carmaker has done for more than 60 years. For a glimpse at the new fuel-saving Silverado engines, stop in to Stalker Chevrolet.
It’s not every day that a car encounters a sinkhole and survives to tell the tale—unless it’s a Chevrolet Corvette. This past February, a sinkhole developed beneath the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky, engulfing eight Corvettes on display before stopping its expansion. Now, Chevrolet is proud to announce that the first sinkhole victim has been restored to its former glory and is on its way back to the museum for display once again.
“After that unprecedented event, the ZR1 was the first car to be lifted out of the sinkhole,” said Jim Campbell, US vice president of performance vehicles and motorsports. “It was great to recover it, bring it back to Chevrolet, and begin the restoration of this significant Corvette.”
The first sinkhole Corvette restored is a 2009 ZR1, nicknamed the “Blue Devil,” and was also the first car pulled out of the sinkhole. Despite falling nearly 30 feet, the Corvette wasn’t fazed and drove out of the museum on its own power. The damage to the car took six weeks to repair and included cracked carbon-fiber ground effects, bent rear control arms on the driver’s side, and cracked oil lines leading to the supercharged LS9 engine.
Two more Corvettes will be restored next year, while five others will remain in their as-recovered state. If you are looking for your own Chevy sports car, make sure you stop in to Stalker Chevrolet today!
Last Friday the 2014 Panther Football team placed themselves at the top of the record books. In a back and forth battle against Dallas Center-Grimes, a team they had beaten them earlier this season, Creston opted to go for the game winning 2-point conversion in overtime. It doesn’t get more exciting than that!
Even the game-winning play was full of excitement as running back, Chase Shiltz, had to take flight to break the end zone plane. And after that, as you can imagine, pure enjoyment ensued.
“I didn’t know what to do”, said quarterback Alex Nielsen. “I just started running around like a maniac.”
And why shouldn’t he? For the first time in school history, Creston is headed to the UNI-Dome for a shot at the state title!
The next test for the Creston/O-M football team will be defending Class 3A state champs Sioux City Bishop Heelan. Heelan has won 11 straight coming in to this contest and is known for its stingy defense. It should be a great match-up for Creston’s record setting offense.
At Stalker Chevrolet, we’re thrilled for the matchup and can’t wait to watch what will certainly be an exciting game.
The action will go take place tomorrow at 5:30 at the UNI-dome. Tickets are on sale now for $10 at the high school office. If you want to ride down with the pep bus the cost is $15 – includes the cost of the ticket.
If you do go to the game make sure to be loud and cheer on our team to victory! Go Panthers!
