Dominos Delivery Vehicle Delivers a Whole Lot of Pizza on Very Little Gas

Dominos has chosen the efficient (and apparently versatile) 2015 Chevrolet Spark for its new DXP™ (Delivery Expert). The pizza company chose the 2015 Chevrolet Spark for a number of reasons, the most obvious of which might be its ability to maneuver around the city without the need for much gas.

Specifically designed to deliver pizzas, the Chevrolet Spark Dominos delivery vehicle was a crowd-sourced concept that was submitted as part of the Domino’s Ultimate Delivery Vehicle Challenge. Featuring a warming oven located behind the driver’s seat and accessible from the outside via a key fob, the Dominos DXP promises to deliver a warm pizza to your doorstep every time. In addition, the car ditches all seats except the driver’s seat, creating space for as many as 80 pizzas and has a special compartment for two-liter sodas.

“The Chevrolet Spark is the perfect vehicle to bring our pizza delivery to life,” said Russell Weiner, president of Domino’s USA in a statement. “Not only will the DXP have a warming oven on board and enough storage capacity to hold 80 pizzas in the rear, but the fuel efficiency is something our franchisees welcome.”

Dominos has deployed 100 DXP vehicles to franchises in 25 markets nationwide, and will provide special training for safe and efficient use of the delivery cars.

Chevrolet Receives Four IIHS 2015 Top Safety Pick Ratings

At Chevrolet, your safety is our number one priority. That is why it comes as no surprise that four different Chevrolet models have received the 2015 Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The 2015 Spark, Volt, Malibu, and Equinox each proved that not only are they aesthetically pleasing and capable, but they are also some of the safest cars in the industry.

“Receiving this recognition from IIHS for the 2015 Spark, Volt, Malibu, and Equinox is great news for Chevrolet and even greater news for our customers,” said Steven Majoros, director Chevrolet Cars and Crossover Marketing.

To earn the 2015 Top Safety Pick rating, each of the four vehicles had to receive a ‘good’ or ‘acceptable’ rating in the challenging small overlap front test, which is the most difficult crash test out there. Each vehicle also had to receive a good rating in the IIHS’ four other tests.

Chevy Trax to Ready for US Debut

If you haven’t noticed Chevrolet has been pretty aggressive in expanding its small car portfolio. In just the past Chevrolet has increased its market share in the small, compact, and mini car segments. Chevy hopes to hit it rich again with the 2015 Chevy Trax.

The small-SUV will round out Chevrolet’s impressive small car lineup, already featuring the Spark, Sonic, and Cruze.

Chevy Spark
In 2015 Chevy Trax will join Chevy Spark as another world traveler now landing in the US.

Trax may be a newcomer when it arrives in the United States, but like the Spark in 2013, Trax is well known around the globe. Since 2012, 90,000 Chevy Trax have been sold in 60 countries. That number should grow rapidly as the Trax will be released in the US and China over the next year.

“The small CUV’s combination of style, fuel efficiency and flexibility will lead to increased consumer demand over the next several years,” said Karl Brauer, senior analyst for Kelley Blue Book. “We’re seeing small CUVs replacing compact and mid-size sedans on many shoppers’ consideration lists.”

Chevy Cruze
Trax and Cruze will be part of Chevrolet’s small car lineup.

Leave it to Chevrolet to load up the Trax with a seven-inch color touchscreen and MyLink infotainment system.  Chevy Trax will also bring a 4G LTE connection from OnStar, transforming the vehicle to a truly mobile Wi-Fi hotspot.

More important than the entertainment options are the safety features in the 2015 Trax. The Chevy Trax will come with 10 standard airbags and offer the segment’s only rear-seat-mounted thorax airbag. Another standard feature is the rearview camera.

You’re probably thinking the Trax is too small for your cargo needs. But Trax has the ability to fold flat both the second row and passenger seats, offering up to 43.1 cubic feet of cargo space.

Chevrolet Sonic
Chevy Trax will be joining Chevrolet’s small car lineup along with Sonic.

Without getting a firsthand look at the 2015 Trax the jury is still out on whether it will deliver everything that we expect in a Chevy vehicle, but all signs point to this being a truly capable small-SUV.

Safety in a Subcompact? Meet the Chevy Spark.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is conducting new, tougher front-end collision testing.  11 subcompact sedans were tested, 1 passed.

The Chevrolet Spark was the only subcompact able to earn an acceptable rating in the crash test that involves cars to hit a barrier at 40 mph with the front quarter of the driver’s side.

Previous front collision testing was often restricted to head on collisions where engine parts and basic car designs can minimize damage. The “small-overlap” test accounts for a more realistic portrayal of a driver swerving to avoid a head on collision instead striking at an angle that puts more stress on the structure of the car.

Small cars have a major disadvantage in this area, making it even more impressive that the Chevy Spark was able to pass the portion of the IIHS testing.

2014 Chevrolet Spark
Chevrolet has worked to engineer a subcompact that still allows you to feel safe on the road.

More difficult testing like the “small-overlap” test have created a decrease in the number of IIHS top safety pick winners; sites like Automotive News have put the decrease near 70 percent.

While subcompacts in general aren’t built to handle major collisions like the one involved in this test, it’s good to know that the Chevrolet Spark was able to provide good injury measurements for all parts of the body.

Safety is important to keep in mind in any vehicle, regardless of size, and we’re glad to see that the engineers at Chevrolet and GM are doing their best to keep people safe on the road.

A Present Day Look at the History of Chevrolet

102 years. That’s a long time for any organization. It’s even more impressive when you consider that Chevrolet has been through what many are calling a “resurgence”.

Chevy will have redesigned its entire truck line, with the reveal of the 2015 Chevy Colorado next week. The 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 used power, fuel economy, and an exterior and interior facelift to reestablish its spot as best full-sized truck. And the recently revealed 2015 Chevy Silverado HD features enhancements to make sure you can get the big boy jobs done right.

Speaking of the big boys, Chevrolet has also spent time renovating its crossovers and SUVs.

The legacy that is the Chevrolet Suburban is all-new for the 2015 model and so is the 2015 Tahoe. Chevy also took to redesigning the Traverse in 2012.

In the car segment, Chevy introduced the United States to the subcompact Spark last year and brought the all-electric Spark EV along this year.  But the biggest news for Chevy cars was the completely redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Impala.  The refined elegance, performance, technology, innovation, and more make the 2014 Impala a beautiful masterpiece in this namplates long line of icons.

Make no mistakes about the Chevrolet brand, Chevrolet still means amazing performance machines; big engines and fast cars. This is evident by Chevy’s three performance vehicles; the legends, Camaro and Corvettte, and the newcomer SS.

For Camaro, they’ve brought back the pure performance moniker Z/28. However, this isn’t just bringing back the name for nostalgia. The Camaro Z/28 is built for speed, handling, and performance. No excess here, just an aerodynamic Camaro built for the track sitting on Pirelli® PZERO™ Trofeo R tires.

Making waves in Chevy’s performance fleet is the all-new SS. The Chevy SS is the rear-wheel-drive V8 that Chevy fans have been waiting for 17 years.

An all-new V8 powered Chevy to add to the performance line.

And last but certainly not least. The flagship of Chevrolet performance. The iconic American sports car. The Chevrolet Corvette. This year the Corvette returned with its seventh body style and brought back the Stingray nameplate. And the 2014 Corvette Stingray is completely deserving of the name. A low aggressive stance with impressive lines and curves fueled by a 6.2L V8, makes the Corvette Stingray a precision speed machine.

With 102 years of experience the history of Chevrolet is undoubtedly guiding the decision of the present and future. And with a history like Chevrolet’s you can expect more great vehicles in the near future.
