Chevrolet recently announced its new special edition trim, RST, which will be available on the 2018 Tahoe and Suburban. RST, which stands for Rally Sport Truck, will be available with a 6.2-liter V-8 engine with 420 horsepower, Magnetic Ride Control, and an all-new Hydra-Matic 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission.
The RST is inspired by after-market performance parts and does away with almost all chrome trim. It comes with body-color grille surround and door handles with a gloss-black grille and mirror caps, as well as black badging. It will come with a range of other available packages to boost performance and braking.
The director of Chevrolet Truck Marketing, Sandor Piszar, said that RST is a reflection of Chevy’s ongoing effort to make the Tahoe and Suburban adaptable to every kind of driver, with “various combinations of capability, technology, and performance.” He went on to say that the RST is for “customers who want a street performance look without sacrificing capability or refinement” that still allows for increased performance.
RST will be available on the 2018 Tahoe and Suburban in fall of this year, and preliminary estimates show that the Tahoe will have a towing capacity of 8,400 pounds and will be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 6 seconds.
